Special features

A sea scape was formed southeast of the city of Groningen in the Netherlands so as to allow mariners to get to the North Sea by ship and to create an exclusive local recreation area. The islands are connected by a “family of timber bridges” including eight heavy-load bridges, one pedestrian bridge, a flap bridge and a cable-stayed bridge. The latter stands out due to its filigree construction, fitting into the water landscape particularly well as a landmark close to nature.
